House of Spiders - Daddy-Long-Legs Spiders

Daddy-Long-legs spiders belong to the family Pholcidae. They have a short, round cephalothorax with the head region elevated on the sides. The thorax region has a deep, long central groove.

These creatures have venomous glands. However, they do not bite or harm humans. Their fangs are too small to cut or bite the skin! Daddy- Long-Legs spiders are not very active & are usually found in residential areas, houses, buildings and even caves. They can often be seen in trees & under stones.

Location : Taman Negara, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia - Northern Region

 > The Front eyes small. The other eyes are large and are arranged in groups on either side.

   > These creatures are very small and have long, thin legs and a long, cylindrical abdomen.

 When
Daddy-Long-legs spiders are disturbed, they bounce up and down at great speed until they become a blur. This deters predators from attacking them.
